2004 Dryad / Shitepoke ClubRally

Day 1 was going along quite well, having no major problems except for a
rock taking out one of the rear brake lines.  Steve Perret (the
elder) was a valuable resource in service, helping us cauterize the
wound and continue.

Eventually we came to a left hander and ended up locking up all four
(would have been all ‘three’ if we didn’t have a welded differential)
and going straight and down into a culvert/creekbed, rolling the car
onto the roof.  Didn’t damage much beyond pride, we were able to
right the car, drag it out of the gully and continue under our own
power back to service.

Major changes to the car prior to the event included a whole new front suspension and brake upgrade.

Nik was unable to co-drive at the recent Shitepoke/Dryad’s quest club
rally, so Ed (who normally handles service duties) stepped into the hot
seat.

Detailed inspection of the car revealed that one of the brand new shock
abosorbers had completely failed, possibly contributing to the accident.

More Roll-over photos, etc.

Day 2 would prove to be a practice day, nursing the non-functioning
shock obsorber.  We were able do fairly well, but our day ended
when the
rear differential basically exploded.
